What started over 10 years ago as a simple South African braai blog has grown into something much bigger - a lifestyle brand built around fire, food, family and culture.

I originally created Boertjie Braai purely as a passion project. Back then, it was never about business. It was just a place to share recipes, braai ideas and the culture I grew up with in South Africa, where a braai is far more than cooking meat over coals - it’s a way of bringing people together.

Since moving to Australia with my family, I’ve realised how much Aussies and South Africans actually have in common. We both love the outdoors, good food, good humour and spending time with family and mates. The difference is simply the style of fire we stand around.

Boertjie Braai is now being rebuilt to share that South African braai culture with Australia - while creating a modern outdoor cooking brand that feels authentic, relaxed and welcoming to everyone.
