📖 The Story
Siketa Meats is more than just a butcher; it’s a Geelong institution. When I walked in, the queue was out the door - always a sign you’re in for something special. The displays were immaculate, packed with an incredible variety of meats, from premium cuts to European specialties. The energy in the shop was infectious, and a big part of that was Boris, who helped me. He was knowledgeable, full of energy, and clearly proud of the butcher’s heritage. Siketa specializes in salamis, sausages, and even salt-dried meats - something I haven’t seen at many other butchers!
⭐ What They're Known For
House-made salamis
Traditional European sausages
Premium beef cuts
Salt-dried meats
Cured and smoked specialties
🛒 What I Picked Up
For this braai, I went all out - Scotch fillet, T-bone steaks, chicken skewers, and some delicious cevapcici sausages. The Scotch fillet had a fantastic marbling, the T-bones promised bold flavor, and the chicken skewers were ready to shine. The cevapcici - Balkan-style sausages -were the perfect unique touch that got me excited to fire up the coals.
🔥 The Braai Test
The Scotch fillet was tender and flavorful, while the T-bone gave that classic, satisfying bite. The chicken skewers came out juicy and perfectly charred.
